- Atomic Physics: Study of inner-shell ionization processes with heavy ions
- Applied and Nuclear Physics: Application of Nuclear Analytical Techniques
The main focus of the research work is on accelerator-based X-ray emission analytical techniques and inner shell ionization collision processes. Apart from Particle Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE) and Synchrotron Radiation based X-ray Fluorescence (SRXRF) analytical techniques, Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectroscopy (ICP-MS) technique is being employed in diverse fields for the elemental analysis of biological, environmental, plant-based materials etc. Statistical and prediction models are applied to the obtained elemental data of biological samples to diagnose the diseases at early stages.
Heavy ions and proton beam at different energies have been successfully employed on high Z targets to study the atomic inner-shell processes. These studies are quite helpful to refine the X-ray spectrum for the elemental analysis.
In recent years, attention is being paid towards the measurement of structural and magnetic properties of synthesized materials. Moreover, studies pertaining to density, speed of sound and viscosity values are being carried out in binary mixtures with different concentrations.
Research Interests: Accelerator-based analytical techniques, Ion-atom collision processes and materials science.
