Welcome you to the department of BS&HSS. HOD’s Message Welcome to the department of BS&HSS. The department of Basic Sciences & Humanities and Social Sciences (BS&HSS) started functioning as single department from January 2013 though they served as independent departments since the College’s inception, 2007. It comprises Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English, Commerce and Economics as sub-departments. All these serve as basic building blocks for all the Engineering departments of the College.
The department has an excellent Infrastructure and lab facilities to cater the needs of the stakeholders. The laboratories have been very well established not only to cover the complete syllabus but also to motivate students to learn beyond the syllabus. The department is coordinating the First year class work of all the branches of B.Tech. The department is also teaching mandatory and audit courses like Environmental Science, Professional Ethics & Human Values, Intellectual Property Rights etc., to UG and PG graduates in addition to the department courses.
Our department is equipped with well qualified and experienced faculty. They are striving hard to develop all round personality of engineering graduates to lead their lives happily with problem solving capabilities, leadership qualities, communication and managerial skills. Our faculty is adopting new and innovative teaching methods by focusing on ‘Outcome based education’. The Faculty of our department are doing enumerable amount of quality research and active in guiding research scholars. Our department faculty has completed three funded research projects in two in Physics and one in Mathematics of total worth Rs. 40 lakhs supported by DST and UGC.
All the faculty members of our department are taking active part in academic activities like organizing and attending Workshops, Faculty development programmes etc., presenting papers in Conferences/ Seminars, completing Online Certification courses like NPTEL, Course Era, etc… As Head of the department, I believe that our faculty is working with tremendous hard work and team spirit to provide the necessary skills for students to become technical intellectuals and good human beings to take up the new challenges.
